BankID Integration for Consumer Facing Services
Required or expected for most consumer facing Norwegian digital services
BankID, owned and governed by Norway's banks rather than the state, is the dominant electronic identification solution with more than 4.6 million users covering over 90 per cent of the eligible adult population, accepted across banking, tax services through Skatteetaten, welfare services through NAV, and the Altinn public services platform. Norway is leading the NOBID pilot for the EU's incoming digital identity wallet even as a non EU member, a requirement that reaches Norway through the EEA Agreement. We build BankID authentication into Norwegian software from sprint one rather than retrofitting it before launch.
